To whom it may concern:
Before I met Dr. Chen and had acupuncture, I was in severe pain and at the end of my rope. Dr. Chen and his healing hands have helped me so much. Here is my story.
Two years ago I was a fairly healthy 53 year old who had diabetes and high blood pressure which was controlled by medicine. I worked as an R.N. in a busy medical/surgical floor. I felt well and was active. In August 2005,1 had chest area pain with pain shooting down my right arm. I didn't think it was my heart as pain usually goes down the left arm. I went to the emergency room as the pain would not go away. All the tests done were negative. The next day I had an echo which did not show an abnormality. That night I started having chest pain again and the heart doctor was there so they took me for a cardiac cath. It showed I had a 90% blockage in my main artery. The doctor said if I had waited much longer I would have had a major heart attack and could have died. I believe God was watching out for me. I was taken for emergency double bypass surgery. I came out of the surgery alright and was recovering fine. The one problem I was having was numbness and tingling in my right leg. The surgeon thought it would go away within a few days. When I went home the pain became so severe I thought I would go out of my mind. It was like knives constantly stabbing my right calf and foot. Sometimes the pain was so bad my foot would start having spasms which was almost intolerable. When I asked the surgeon why I was having this pain, he said it was not from the surgery but from my diabetes. I told him I never had pain in my leg before. He could not give me an answer. My heart doctor thought it was from my leg being pressed down hard on the operating table. I went to see a neurologist and found out I had nerve damage in my right leg and put me on medicine to help the neuropathy. No amount of pain pills would help and the medicine did not help. I had a very difficult time walking as I could not put weight on my right leg. I mainly sat in the recliner with my legs up to get a little relief. The doctor told me I had to walk as my lungs would fill up with fluid if I didn't. I had to make myself get out and walk even though it was so painful.
After two months my sick time and vacation time were gone and I had to go back to work. I went part time and had to go to nights as the work was a little easier. It was very difficult as just walking from room to room I would have to stop and put my feet up. If I was on my foot more than 15 minutes my leg would feel like it was on fire and I would be near tears with the pain. I prayed to God for a miracle and one Sunday one of the men in the church suggested acupuncture. I had no idea where to go so I just put it in the back of my mind. A few weeks later, in November my husband went to get glasses and saw the chiropractor clinic that had a sign for acupuncture. I met Dr. Chen and after the second treatment the terrible pain was gone. This was a miracle. I could walk and do activities I could not do since the surgery. My leg is still sore and I see Dr. Chen once a month. Also because of the pain I had a lot of tension in my shoulders and neck. The acupuncture has helped that too. I would recommend acupuncture to anyone who has any kind of muscle or joint pain. It will make such a difference life and take away the pain. I am so thankful to Dr. Chen for all he does. I tell everyone I know to try acupuncture as it will make a big difference in their life.
Sincerely yours,
Esther Magee
